Press Day
Monday, January 9, 2012 at 10:25AM Its Press day here at CES Amber and I just got out of 2 press conference.
First being LG which has some truly awesome connected devices coming out in the near future. As well as its beautiful 55" OLED TV with passive 3D. The colors on that display are immaculate and at only 4mm thin. Amber was drooling over all of there kitchen devices like there refrigerator that keeps track of your groceries, makes shopping list and even help with what to make for dinner.
Next was Intel which started out very well with the Evolution of Dance and then went right into there UltraBooks with sandybridge. They showed alot on there new lines of UltraBooks and what they will be doing with them. Such as Touch screens, 3D Gestures, Gyros and Motion Sensors. We also got to see some of there ad campaigns for the new UltraBooks and they are funny. The Nikiski is an awesome device mix that is focused on business and I can not wait to go check it out at there booth.
More on CES later Now back to the show. Make sure to follow my twitter feed @utumnyr for up to date info.
Update 2
So Dish was next on our list but we needed to go pick up some new shirts for me and pants for amber so after the Intel press conference we headed to the mall. Then after loosing track of time we missed the Dish lunch so we thought we would just hang out in the mall till the Samsung conference. So around 1:30 we headed to the convenience but when we got there the Samsung room was full >.< and the next conference wasn't for more then an hour but everyone was already lining up for it. SO we got in line for Panasonic and just waited.
Once we got in they had some great stuff to show off Cloud Based Retail services, They showed off some stuff they are doing with American Airlines called X-Connect. I am seriously thinking about getting there Panasonic Z10000 3D Camera. I would like to start filming Gamers Are Us in 3D, and this is the first camera that only needs 18" of room to shoot in 3D. They also were showing off there SmartViera which is there Connected TV service. It is just like most of all the internet connected TVs with Panasonics tweaks and twist. They also showed off something that looked like a 7" table top skyping device, Not much was said on that but it looks awesome. One of the coolest things they showed off was a 20" in diameter 4k x 2k monitor that looks smexy(yes that is a word) they think it would be used for professional purposes like doctors and such. the last thing I want to talk about the Panasonic press conference is that Justin Timberlake came up on the stage to announce there latest partnership with Myspace which is now Myspace TV. I haven't been on myspace since 2008 but this could be something that might bring the Myspace name back into something people use. But we will have to see how it plays out.
Next was Nvidia
It started off pretty slow they showed off an app called Snapseed which is a photo editing software. Then they talked about there Tegra Zone optimized games. Every Tegra device will get the games optimized for its hardware. A big surpize was Fatal1ty was there playing against some of the developers on a Asus Transformer. As well as that they also used the Asus Transformer to show off Splashtop THD to stream them playing Skyrim straight to the tablet and playing with a game controller at 60 frames per second, with the Tegra 3 chip the transformer runs at 60 fps on every app as they say "it runs like butter, doing everything" and the transformer is now available January 9th. After they got done showing off there 10" Transformer they announce for the first time there Asus 7" quadcore Tegra 3 Ice cream sandwich super hi-rez Tablet for $249. then they went on to talk about some windows 8 stuff but as most of you know windows 8 and I aren't seeing eye to eye yet. But that might change tomorrow after playing with it.
Then we ran to the last press confernce which was Ford/NPR
So right when I get there I spot FREE BEER and sandwichs :D so thats a great start. I am not a big lisener of NPR but I do ocasionly lisen so I though I would see what kind of new stuff they are working on. They are working on a great app that works on Apple, Android and on Fords SYNC, When used with SYNC you can run your NPR app like a raguler car stereo as well as using full voice controls. That was about the best thing there besides the beer. So amber and I finished up there then headed up to the Press Room.
And after that we thought we were done..... But we where wrong. We had forgot Microsoft had there Keynote at 6:30 and we can't miss that.
Then off the Mircosofts Keynote with was by far the bigest event by far. This was the first event where the attendies got to watch. So to say the least there was an army of us there. I was super excited cause I was sure they would announce the new xbox at this event. Then Ryan Seacrest walk out on stage and I knew that wasn't going to happen. So over an hour had past all the only new infomation I had learned was about the interactive sesame street books for kids. Out of all the events we went to I think this was the most boring.
Oh well it was still an amazing day.
