Transformers: Dark of the Moon 3D Review
Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11:48AM At first I was going to watch this movie in 2D because I have been disappointed way to many times with 3D but a few friends suggested I watch it in 3D for my review. Long story short I wasn't going to watch in 3D but I did. Now was that a mistake for me to watch it in 3D?? we will re visit the question later.
I was a huge fan of the first transformers because I didn't expect anything good out of the movie. I wasn't into learning and reading about film when number one came out. So I didn't watch anything on it except a few trailers. When it was over I was amazed how good it was. Then the second one was so hyped up and I was very disappointed on the quality of the movie.
This one wasn't as hyped in Reno as number 2 was. I am glad it wasn't I always seem to get disappointed by movies like that. All I hoped for this movie when I went in was "Don't suck like number 2." and "hope this 3D doesn't ruin it for me." Well lets start with it was way better then the 2nd one by far. I was not disappointed with this movie as a whole there were somethings that took me out of the movie. Kinda forget those parts afterwards tho.
Now did the 3D ruin the movie for me? No it didn't ruin the movie. but on the other hand I forgot I was watching it in 3D I think I was to into the movie to ever think about the 3D. I was surprised at the lack of things flying off the screen meaning there was nothing (that I can remember) coming off the scene. 3D is becoming a waste of money/time for me I think. When I watch a movie I haven't seen before in 3D I just end up forgetting its in 3D and think its in 2D. Unlike Avatar I watched at home before I went to go see it 3D so I didn't have to really watch the movie i just got to enjoy the 3D experience. Maybe for the future I should watch it in 2D then 3D.
Now for the juicy part. Story was pretty predictable, you know where Sam's relationship is going, What the Decepticons are up to, maybe not the whole plan but you will understand pretty quick. The new Actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley did a lot better then I thought she was going to do in this film, I just have a problem with her lips. I have never seen (the actor from grays anatomy) in anything beside chick flicks so when I saw the first Scene with him I was skeptical of his roll. But he impressed me in this movie, some of his dialogue wasn't right but him playing a bad guy and pulling it off impressed me. All the returning actors/actress did about the same in this movie.
Sam (Shia LaBeouf) was great he was so damn funny. I found my self Laughing really hard at times. Shia is such a great actor, he had to do everything in this movie. Be funny as hell, be sad and crying, an of course being scared as fuck. and the romantic. All of it was great not so much the romantic crap at the end because it just pulled me out of the action and rush. I did look forward to the next laugh with all the character in this film.
ACTION!! Now of course it had to be great.. I mean come on it was a Michael Bay film. but its always funny how the Decepticons always have huge bad ass stuff but can never win lol. They won there war with the Autobots but they cant handle us simple humans haha. They used a few shots from some other movies but they do that all the time in movies now. I still cant get over the transformations of the Autobots and Decepticons Its just awesome seeing them do that. There where a few bad ass shots with people in the car/truck while it was transforming.
There were some Amazing special effects/CG in this movie. (best be with this kind of money) The Cybertronian ship on the moon was cool, the new Decepticons/Autobots were sweet. The whole Chicago part of the movie was amazing. A few shots were just amazing. I wanted to just keep watching the huge building fall over and over again. As I am typing this I am getting all excited so I must of really liked those parts haha. :) Yes thats right I put a Smily face into this review.
Over all I was happy with this film. I am glad they didn't do the dyeing and seeing Autobots in heaven or what ever that crap was in number 2. New Actors/Actress did a lot better then I expected, Action blow me away end half of this movie was sweet. made my laugh really hard and if you can do that in a major action film I give you props. Autobots/Decepticons Transfomations were amazing as was all the destruction of Chicago. This movie in 3D was nice but nothing crazy to me.
Go watch it and let me know what you liked and didn't like. There are many things I didn't write about in this review, I could have written for days on this movie.
Thanks guys,

Cars 2
Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 2:47AM First let me say they may have marketed this movie as a child film, But I was surprised with the fact it was a pretty Adult movie. Its a movie that young and old can both enjoy, kids wont understand some of the movie and maybe some adults may find them selfs wondering why there kid is laughing so hard.
I thought this film would have been a great fun ride of nothing but laughs….I may have been wrong. Yes I laughed but I was under whelmed with laughs. I found my self waiting for the next laugh. The Progression wasn't well maintained for the laughs, I wanted more out of this movie. But I do have to say Mater was hilarious. Just the fact that MaQueen wasn't funny or entertaining in this movie kinda killed my interest, I laughed at the beginning where he got a few good lines in but I don't remember much of him in this movie. It was a Mater driven film. Don't get me wrong i was ok with it. He is the character in this movie I really liked.
The set pieces were amazing I love the animations in this movie, in the first one they were in radiator springs the whole time. this one we got to see different locations. Where I think the true thought went in to this movie, the Locations!! I will have to re watch this movie just so I can see more of the art work and creativity that went into it. Making a world to really pull you in to the Cars universe must have been challenging but I think they pulled it off well. Everything was made to make you feel at home in this universe, Really made me want to be one of the cars just to see how everything worked in this world. Mater had some great scenes that really help you get attached to the world.
The relationship between Mater and MaQueen was pulled back and forth a lot. I am ok with with a build up to a friendship fight but it may have been to much, MaQueen making Mater feel bad thought this film really made me not like him. Some of the Characters from the first one didn't have much screen time, just parts in the beginning and end. The Main Story line wasn't to bad it was easy to follow but still made you wonder what was going to happen. Normally I can figure out the answer to mysteries in movies/shows but for some reason I didn't know this one… I don't know if I just wasn't paying enough attention or if it was the guy in the theater trying to guess who the bad guy was through the whole movie.
I was very entertained by the kids in the theater maybe more so then the movie, there were some kids in one corner of the theater that would laugh really hard at one joke then a few jokes later for some reason those kids wouldn't laugh but then another group of kids in a different part of the theater would bust up laughing. It was fun :)
So over all I was expecting more enjoyment out of the story then what I got. Wanted more laughs also how ever I really enjoyed the ones I got. I was unhappy with some of the writing. I was most Impressed by the time they spent with the world of Cars. The locations were amazing and very detailed. It was a level of creativity you don't get to see in live action movies, or even in many Animated movies. They had to re make a whole new world and make it convincing.
I will watch this movie again when it comes out on DVD for sure, its always a different experience when you are watching a movie at home. I may get more enjoyment out of it watching the second time around.
